We are located within the call of the Tasman Sea, bathed in it’s light, feeling it’s spray and held by it’s movements. This place defines much of the vision of the studio gallery.

Just as the tides and the seasons follow their cyclical patterns of change and renewal, so too does our gallery. We have a six weekly cycle for our exhibitions so we can showcase the diversity of the fibre arts.

Awaking our connections to the past, placing us in the present and empowering us to view into the future is our majestic Mounga Taranaki. Just as the strength of The Maunga pulls the weather towards his presence, we hope to draw like minded people to our textile community.

Grounded in a love of fibres we cast a net of discovery for our gallery community and our visitors. See our upcoming Artists in Residence backstories.

Seasonal Rotations are energetic at our place, these inform both what happens in the selection of the gallery exhibitions but also in the making activities of the studio.

Set aside but within is a habitation place – a place for creators to pause, embrace their environs, rest, recharge and create.

A place for activating the imagination and pollinating creativity we invite creators to join us.

Located on the coast of South Taranaki, New Zealand, from out of the blue studio gallery is a space devoted to all things fibre and fabric.

The studio gallery is a dream come true for the gallerist/artist Viv Davy
